Because of its natural and cultural wealth, Brela have many years of tourist tradition Residents of Brela in the past were mainly engaged in agriculture, they were especially famous for cultivation of grapes and cherries at foothills of mount Biokovo. Although tourism is now the main source of income for the inhabitants of Brela, they are still engaged in agriculture, and marasca cherry as a major agricultural culture has almost become a symbol of Brela.
Brela continues its long tradition even today in offering comfortable accommodation and hospitality of its residents, old Dalmatian cuisine, wine, songs and fun. Municipality of Brela is consisted of two villages: Gornja Brela located in the foothills of Nature Park Biokovo and the settlement Brela, consisting of several villages on either side of the main road of which the largest Soline and Donja Selo.
